Data Deletion
Last updated: July 6, 2026
You can remove your data from Markup Index in two ways, depending on whether you have an account. Both paths satisfy deletion rights under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws.
1. Anonymous visitors — instant reset
If you use the site without an account, your data is keyed only to a random anonymous identifier stored in a cookie on your device. Resetting it below immediately unlinks all past activity from your browser: a new identifier is issued, consent choices are cleared, and the old identifier can never be re-associated with you. (Server-side, the weekly rotating IP-hash salt already guarantees any duplicate-visitor signal expires within one week.)
This clears your anonymous identifier, consent choices, and locally stored activity on this browser.
2. Account holders — deletion request
If you created an account, request deletion by emailing [email protected] from your account email with the subject "Data deletion request". We will verify the request, delete your account, profile, and personal data within 30 days, and confirm completion. Aggregate statistics that no longer identify you (for example, category averages that included your reviewed contributions) are retained, consistent with our Terms.
3. What deletion covers
Deletion removes: your profile and email, identity-resolution links between anonymous history and your account, stored consent records, and behavioral events keyed to your identifiers. It does not remove already-published aggregate statistics or platform-owned catalog contributions, which are retained in de-identified form.
